Clovis Mello began his career in the beginning of the 80s at age 20, at Rede Globo de Televisão, in Rio de Janeiro, as film editor.

As such, he worked in several of the TV station’s programs, such as: soap operas, series, videoclips and soap opera openings. At the end of the 80s, he was invited by a film producer to work in São Paulo and thus left Rede Globo and began his work as advertising director.

In 1994, he joined producer Raul Doria and together they created CINE. Since then, they’ve made almost two thousand TV commercials, of those, one hundred and ten were for the company Havaianas. He won several director awards in Brazil and abroad, such as Professional of the Year, London Festival, New York Festival and three Lions at Cannes. With the comedy short film “Sildenafil”, he won awards at the Miami and Toronto Festivals, and the popular vote award at the Rio Festival. In 2015, he released the movie “Ninguém Ama Ninguém por Mais de Dois Anos” [No One Loves Anyone… For More Than Two Years], based on the work of Nelson Rodrigues. In 2018, Clovis wrote and directed a movie about the spiritual medium Divaldo Franco, which is currently in post-production and is predicted to be released in the first half of 2019 with distribution by 20th Century Fox.
